One million Ukrainians have already had flu and ARVI this season, the incidence is 8.4% below the epidemic threshold

In Ukraine, the incidence of ARVI and influenza, including COVID-19, is 8.4% below the epidemic threshold: more than a million cases have been registered this season, up 39.7% from last year.

The incidence of influenza and ARVI, including COVID-19, in Ukraine is 8.4% below the epidemic threshold, since the beginning of the epidemic season in Ukraine, from October 2 to November 26, 2023, more than a million people have had ARVI, UNN reports, citing data from the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health.

From October 2 to November 26, 2023, 1,142,641 (3.2%) people fell ill with SARS, which is 39.7% more than in the same period of the 2022-2023 season. The proportion of children among the infected persons is 56.5%

Reportedly, the intensive rate of of ARVI, including COVID-19, is 442.6 per 100,000 population, which is 8.4% less than the epidemic threshold calculated for Ukraine, and by 8.8% more than the same indicator last week.

During the previous week, from November 20 to 26, 159,269 people fell ill with SARS in Ukraine, 91,221 of them were children under the age of 17.

In Ternopil region, the epidemic threshold was recorded as exceeding a very high level. In Zhytomyr and Chernivtsi regions, this figure corresponds to a high level. In Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions, the incidence of SARS corresponds to the average level. In other regions of Ukraine, low non-epidemic levels remain. 

It is noted that SARS-CoV-2 viruses dominate (98.2%), in other cases, influenza viruses and other of the respiratory group (parainfluenza, adenoviruses, RS viruses, rhinoviruses, bocaviruses metapneumoviruses). At the same time, it is indicated that, in particular, the circulation of influenza viruses of type A(H3) in Ivano-Frankivsk region continues.

At the same time, no fatalities due to influenza have been reported since the beginning of the epidemic season.
