As of November 25, 2023, 1750 cultural facilities were damaged in Ukraine, with clubs, libraries and art institutions suffering the most, especially in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions
Due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 1750 cultural infrastructure facilities have been damaged, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine reported on Tuesday, UNN reports.
As of November 25, 2023, 1750 cultural infrastructure facilities have been damaged. The greatest losses and damages to cultural infrastructure were suffered in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia regions and Kyiv,
Details
The largest group of cultural infrastructure facilities that were damaged or destroyed were reportedly clubs (49% of the total number of cultural infrastructure facilities that suffered damage).
In total, the following were reportedly affected:
- clubs - 864;
- libraries - 613;
- art education institutions - 136;
- museums and galleries - 106;
- theaters, cinemas and philharmonic halls - 31.
Cultural infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed in 266 territorial communities (18.1% of the total number of territorial communities in Ukraine). Most of them were in Donetsk (83%), Sumy (53%), and Kharkiv (52%) regions.
