The Hamas leader conveyed to Israel a message about his desire to conclude a ceasefire agreement. The US calls on Israel to agree to the deal to avoid escalation of the conflict.
The head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Yahya Sinwar, has conveyed a message to Israel through intermediaries, which states that he wants to conclude a ceasefire agreement. This was reported by CNN, citing an Israeli source familiar with the situation, UNN reports .

The source clarified that it is not yet clear what position Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu takes on this issue. However, it is emphasized that the US authorities have made it clear to Israel that it is time to conclude an agreement to avoid escalation of the conflict.
The only ceasefire agreement was in effect from November 24 to 30, 2023. At that time, Hamas released 81 Israelis and 24 foreigners as hostages. Since then, the issue of a ceasefire has been raised repeatedly.

Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of hostages resumed in July 2024 after more than a month of suspension. However, all rounds of negotiations ended without breakthroughs.
