White flowers, embroidered shirts and flags: Kyiv bids farewell to a 20-year-old medic who died saving people during the Russian Armed Forces attack

On Tuesday, August 4, in Kyiv, a farewell ceremony was held for 20-year-old Vitalina Yarevenko, an instructor at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Military Training Center, who died on the night of August 1 while rescuing people during a massive missile attack on Kyiv. UNN reports this.

The deceased was memorialized at St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral. Many people came to the farewell ceremony in embroidered shirts and white clothing, bringing bouquets of white flowers. The girl's mother, Natalia Koretska-Yarovenko, made this request to everyone.
I ask everyone to wear light-colored clothing so she won't be so sad; embroidered shirts are also welcome
She also asked to bring flags and prepare the lyrics of the song "Volya" by Maryna Kurt to sing it for Vitalina.
Afterwards, her memory was honored with a moment of silence at Maidan Nezalezhnosti. Vitalina Yara was buried at the Berkovetske cemetery near the Alley of Heroes.
What is known about Vitalina Yara
The girl was born on April 16, 2006. She was a student at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, studying in her 4th year at the Faculty of Health, Social Work, and Psychology.
In addition, she was an active public figure, often participating in actions demanding the return of Mariupol defenders from captivity. Vitalina was also a volunteer and organized fundraising events to support Ukrainian military personnel.
Vitalina arrived at the site of one of the missiles launched by the Russian Armed Forces as a volunteer, as she was part of a medical battalion. That night, the girl had just started her shift. Her area of responsibility was the Left Bank of the capital.
The instructor was providing medical assistance to the victims when the medical team came under a second missile attack. The girl died from her injuries.
She went to save people, but she herself died from the repeated missile strikes. She saved people, taught, and prepared to defend Kyiv
Her comrades and sisters also remember the deceased with kind words.
Vitalina was one of those who teaches others not with words but by her own example. She was someone about whom one can truly say: a person of good will. Her choice that night was the same as her whole life: to be with those who need help, no matter what
Even the First Lady of Ukraine wrote about the death of the young medic. Olena Zelenska noted on her official Telegram channel that behind every Russian attack are not "strategic targets," as Russian military officials claim, but rather such lost families and shattered destinies.
The names of those killed by the Russian missile are already known. Olena Rozhniativska and her 18-year-old daughter Kateryna, patrol police officer Yehor Teriokhin, and 20-year-old volunteer Vitalina Yara died at the same time while trying to save people... It is painful and unbearable to watch. But I want people in safe, peaceful countries to see the faces and learn about the fates of these Ukrainians. To realize that this is not an abstract 'conflict' somewhere in Eastern Europe

On August 1, the Russian ballistic attack on Kyiv claimed the lives of nine people, and 23 others were injured. The most casualties were in the Darnytskyi district, where seven people died.
