UNICEF expands assistance to Ukrainians: who can count on payments

UNICEF is expanding financial support programs for Ukrainian families with children in the frontline areas. Payments will amount to up to UAH 21800, and the number of schools receiving grants will increase from 350 to 800.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is increasing its financial support to vulnerable categories of Ukrainians, including families with children in the frontline areas. The Fund will continue two cash assistance programs and increase the number of schools that will receive grants to prepare for winter. Representatives of the Foundation announced this during a conversation with Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. UNN reports this with reference to the Office of the President. 

Details

In particular, it is reported that assistance will continue to be provided to families with children living in the 30-kilometer zone from the contact line in seven regions. They will receive UAH 21,800 to prepare for the winter.

More than 103 thousand people have already received payments, including 44 thousand children. UNICEF assured that this number will continue to grow. In addition, almost 5 thousand families have received household fuel.

The program will also continue, under which families with children who have left the communities in Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts where mandatory evacuation has been announced will receive a one-time assistance of UAH  10,800.

In addition, the number of schools in the frontline areas that will receive cash grants from UNICEF to modernize canteens and prepare for winter will increase from 350 to 800.

Financial support to meet needs in the autumn and winter is provided to families with children living within a 30-kilometer zone from the contact line in Dnipropetrovska, Donetska, Kharkivska, Sumska, Zaporizka and Khersonska oblasts.

Recently, Chernihiv region was added to this list.
