Viktor Medvedchuk's yacht Royal Romance is under arrest under EU sanctions. The Prosecutor General's Office is actively cooperating with international partners to develop a mechanism for its confiscation and sale.
The yacht Royal Romance, which previously belonged to Viktor Medvedchuk, accused of high treason, is under arrest under indefinite sanctions. The OGP is actively working with international partners to develop a mechanism for its confiscation and sale. This was reported to UNN by the OGP spokesperson Nadiya Maksymets.
On May 27, 2024, the European Union imposed personal sanctions on the suspect and his wife. Currently, the yacht Royal Romance is under arrest on the basis of indefinite sanctions - detained in the port of Trogir (Croatia) in accordance with the decision of the Permanent Sanctions Group and cannot leave the EU territory
According to her, the yacht was arrested simultaneously in two national criminal proceedings.
Currently, the OGP is actively working with international partners to develop a mechanism for its confiscation and sale
In addition, Maksymets said that during these two years, the Prosecutor General's Offic
- about 20 requests and letters were sent to the competent authorities of the Republic of Croatia regarding the arrest of the said yacht, inspection and search on it, obtaining original documents and access to the vessel for the Ukrainian side;
- all requests (5) of the Croatian court for information were fulfilled;
- every three months, all possible materials were provided to extend the period of property seizure;
- ASA experts are involved in the work.
Context
MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said that the District Court of Split had allegedly canceled the arrest of Medvedchuk's yacht due to the absence of an indictment in a criminal case from the Prosecutor General's Office. The yacht is estimated at $200 million.

In May of this year, the arrested 92-meter yacht Royal Romance, which previously belonged to Viktor Medvedchuk, acquired the status of a Ukrainian vessel subject to the jurisdiction of Ukraine.
The head of the ARMA, Olena Duma, reported that since the yacht Royal Romance, formerly owned by Viktor Medvedchuk, is now considered a Ukrainian vessel, previous attempts to change the flag, which were sometimes not entirely legal, can no longer be carried out.
