They (Israel - ed.) gradually demolished it until they reached the main square, and now there are no more houses there

– said local resident Hassan Sweidan.

According to observers, entire residential areas are systematically being destroyed in several villages.

Concerns about displaced persons

Lebanese officials, as well as UN peacekeepers, express concern that a significant number of people who were forced to leave their homes due to the war will not be able to return even if the truce is maintained.

Due to limited access and security issues, a full assessment of the extent of the destruction is not yet possible.

The Lebanese side plans to raise the issue of mass demolitions during negotiations with Israeli representatives in Washington. These consultations are expected to be part of the first direct talks between the two countries in decades.
