Details
As the investigation established, with this intelligence data, the Russians hoped to strike the Defense Forces with super-heavy high-explosive aerial bombs FAB-500 or even one-and-a-half-ton FAB-1500 with a planning and correction module.
In this way, the enemy planned to inflict maximum damage on reserve command posts, fortified areas, and logistics warehouses with weapons and ammunition of Ukrainian troops. SBU officers exposed the perpetrator and documented the enemy's reconnaissance activity in the frontline area step by step.
According to the investigation, the detainee was a local unemployed person recruited by the enemy. He walked around the frontline communities to identify, photograph, and mark on Google Maps the locations of the defenders of Donetsk region. He was supposed to transfer the information to Russian handlers from his own smartphone.
During searches, the detainee's phone was found and seized with evidence of collecting intelligence data and contacts with a Russian special services officer. He was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
The detainee is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
