The Slavs believed that the bad weather on July 27 would linger for at least another week. The heat of this day was considered a sign of a rich harvest, and bats being too active in the evening was a sign of a warm, but not hot, end to summer.
If hot weather was combined with rain on July 28, our ancestors expected early autumn. And the evening fog “predicted” a rainy August.
