Belgian authorities have charged three natives of Chechnya with financing and preparing a terrorist attack in the country. The suspects are allegedly linked to Wilayat Khorasan, the Afghan branch of the Islamic State terrorist group, Belgian prosecutors said on Friday, July 26, UNN reports .

The men from Chechnya were detained in a large-scale anti-terrorist operation conducted simultaneously at 14 addresses in nine Belgian cities, including Antwerp, Ghent and Liege.
According to a statement from the prosecutor's office, seven people were arrested during the searches, four of whom were released after interrogation. Details about the potential target of the attack were not disclosed.
