US President Donald Trump is considering a new military aid package for Ukraine worth hundreds of millions of dollars. This is reported by Politico, citing two unnamed sources familiar with the White House chief's plans, informs UNN.
Details
According to their data, funds for the new aid package to Kyiv will come from a fund approved by Congress last year under President Joe Biden, which allows the US Department of Defense to withdraw weapons from US military arsenals for Ukraine.
The fund, known as the "Presidential Drawdown Authority," still contains about $3.8 billion.
The authors also indicate that meanwhile, NATO countries are working on a larger deal to purchase American weapons for Ukraine. According to an unnamed congressional aide, Kyiv is asking Washington to allow Europe to buy American weapons.
"The potential new military aid, the first from the US since January, comes amid the strongest Russian drone and missile bombardments," the authors summarize.
Recall
According to Reuters sources, US President Donald Trump, for the first time since returning to office, will send weapons to Kyiv using presidential powers. The value of the weapons could be around $300 million.
Meanwhile, the US Senate Armed Services Committee approved a bill on national defense appropriations, which provides for the allocation of $500 million in aid to Ukraine and the extension of the Security Assistance Initiative until 2028.
