The United States imposed sanctions against eight Cuban officials and military enterprises over ties with China and Russia. The restrictions concern arms supplies and the recruitment of Cubans for the war against Ukraine.
On August 6, the administration of US President Donald Trump imposed sanctions on eight Cuban officials and several military enterprises over cooperation with China and Russia. Bloomberg reports, UNN writes.

Those included on the sanctions list are Cuba’s military attaché in China, Valdo Perez Cortes; Cuba’s representative in Russia, Monica Milian Gomez; as well as several senior Cuban armed forces officials. According to the US State Department, most of them were involved in organizing arms supplies from China and Russia.
Human rights organizations also accuse Monica Milian Gomez of involvement in recruiting Cubans to participate in Russia’s war against Ukraine, but the Cuban authorities deny this.
Military enterprises also targeted by sanctions
Restrictions were also imposed on the state-owned companies "Tecnotex," "Technoimport," the "Yuri Gagarin Military-Industrial Enterprise," the trading group "Duna S.A.," and the Union of Military Industry.
