The RF may try to breach the border in Chernihiv region - the State Border Guard Service named the enemy's goal

State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko reported that the enemy plans an incursion into Chernihiv region to distract the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Currently, there are no active actions by Russians near the border, but fortification of positions is ongoing.
Russia may launch a new offensive by crossing the border in Chernihiv Oblast. This was reported on August 4 by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, as conveyed by UNN.

According to him, the enemy plans to use the border of Chernihiv region to attempt a breakthrough or force the Armed Forces of Ukraine to redeploy forces from other hot directions.
"When it comes to the Chernihiv direction, the General Staff also noted that intelligence data indicates the enemy's plans include using this section of the Ukrainian border within Chernihiv Oblast to attempt an invasion,"
The Russians may also breach the northern borders or make such an attempt (or simulate it) to divert the Defense Forces from the hottest directions, where round-the-clock clashes and battles are currently ongoing.
The SBGS spokesperson added that currently, near the state border in Chernihiv region, the Russians are not conducting activities that would indicate an imminent offensive in the coming days. In particular, no Russian infantry attempting to breach the border has been observed in this area yet.
"The threat from Belarus will be considered real... when there are attempts to destabilize the situation directly along the border line and stage provocations,"
Furthermore, the SBGS speaker emphasized that the agency's engineering units, Defense Forces units, and local self-government representatives are currently working together to strengthen the northern borders of our state.
"All components are working together to increase engineering barriers, which also include the destruction of routes that could be used to cross the border,"
Additionally, at the northern locations, not only fortifications are being built, but also work is underway to install additional cameras to monitor enemy movements online in the future.
To prevent the Russians from breaching the border unhindered and advancing deep into Ukraine, Ukrainian military personnel are constructing mine-explosive barriers.
