Details
The meeting will take place at 1:00 p.m. Kyiv time in a hybrid format. It will be co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham.
According to a European official, around ten meeting participants, including President of the European Council António Costa, will be in Kyiv together with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The main focus – Ukraine’s air defense
One of the key issues will be strengthening Ukraine’s air defense. According to Le Figaro, Ukraine is becoming increasingly vulnerable to Russian strikes due to a shortage of interceptor missiles.
This meeting, which will symbolically take place on the 35th anniversary of the celebration of Ukraine’s independence, will be an opportunity to reaffirm our firm support for the Ukrainian people and their struggle to preserve sovereignty and independence
The leaders are also expected to reaffirm their readiness to increase pressure on Russia and coordinate measures to reduce the resources Moscow uses to finance the war, in particular by combating its "shadow fleet."
Separately, the participants will continue working on security guarantees for Ukraine, which are intended to contribute to establishing a just, lasting, and sustainable peace.
