President of Finland Alexander Stubb outlined four key elements for achieving peace in Ukraine. He emphasized that negotiations do not mean concessions and called on China to influence Russia to end the war.

President of Finland Alexander Stubb said that peace talks with Russia should not be perceived as an agreement to make concessions. He believes that in order to achieve sustainable peace, Ukraine needs to focus on four key elements. He said this in an interview with Le Monde, UNN reports.

"We have to distinguish between a possible discussion process, which is not an end in itself, and peace. Starting negotiations does not mean you will make concessions," says Stubb.

He believes that Volodymyr Zelenskyy needs four elements for this peace process to be final.

"The first concerns the territories currently occupied by Russia, and this will be its only solution. Secondly, Ukraine needs security guarantees. And this is where we can help it, through bilateral agreements and a possible path to NATO, and, of course, the European Union. Thirdly, we need justice to bring Russian war criminals to justice," the Finnish president said.

According to him, Zelensky needs support to rebuild Ukraine.

"From our point of view, the path to peace is obvious: Russia must retreat. But this retreat cannot be seen as a prerequisite. We need to convince the Global South that what Russia is doing is imperialism. It is in their interest to stop this conflict. If Xi Jinping wanted to stop the war, he could call Putin and say, "Stop it!"" says Stubb.

He believes that China can influence the cessation of hostilities, as it is in a position of strength against Russia.
