In May, 18 oil facilities and 15 maritime targets were hit in the RF. The maximum strike distance reached a record 1,700 kilometers.

The geography of Ukrainian deep strikes in May covered more than 10 Russian regions, long-range sanctions reached the Moscow region, and oil refineries continued to burn, the Ministry of Defense summarized for the month, UNN reports.

During May 2024, the geography of Ukrainian deep strike attacks covered more than ten regions of the Russian Federation, including Moscow, Vladimir, Kirov, and Samara regions. The maximum engagement distance reached 1,700 kilometers from the state border,

- the Ministry of Defense reported.

The Ministry of Defense stated: "As the President of Ukraine emphasizes, the responses to Russia's dragging out of the war and its attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities are fully justified. And our state clearly declares to the Russians: the aggressor must stop the war."

As noted by the Ukrainian defense department, long-range strikes against Russia were aimed, in particular, at depriving the enemy of the economic capability to continue the aggression. Deep strikes also pave the way for Ukraine to end the war in a strong position, the MoD added. 

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine named the results of Ukraine's long-range strikes in May. According to the MoD, the following were hit:

  • 18 oil refining and fuel logistics facilities;
    • 4 military-industrial complex and chemical industry facilities;
      • 15 maritime targets (ships, boats, tankers, port infrastructure);
        • 10 aviation, air defense, and reconnaissance facilities.

          Oil Refining

          Last month, units of the Defense Forces stopped or significantly restricted the operation of Russian oil refineries, whose total design capacity exceeds 110 million tons of oil per year, the Ministry of Defense indicated and listed:

          • Tuapse Refinery, Tuapse (Krasnodar Krai), ~ 430 km;
            • Perm Refinery and LVDS "Perm", Perm (Perm Krai), ~ 1500 km;
              • "Kirishinefteorgsintez" Refinery and "Kirishi" oil pumping station, Kirishi (Leningrad Oblast), ~ 870 km;
                • Yaroslavl Refinery and NPS "Yaroslavl–3", Yaroslavl and the village of Semybratovo (Yaroslavl Oblast), ~ 680 km;
                  • "Astrakhansky" gas processing plant, Astrakhan (Astrakhan Oblast), ~ 820 km;
                    • Ryazan Refinery, Ryazan (Ryazan Oblast), ~ 480 km;
                      • "Lukoil–Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez" Refinery, Kstovo (Nizhny Novgorod Oblast), ~ 830 km;
                        • Syzran Refinery, Syzran (Samara Oblast), ~ 850 km;
                          • "Sheskharis" oil terminal and "Grushovaya" transshipment oil depot, Novorossiysk (Krasnodar Krai), ~ 420 km;
                            • "Tamanneftegaz" oil terminal, Volna (Krasnodar Krai), ~ 340 km;
                              • "Vtorovo" linear production and dispatch station (Vladimir Oblast), ~ 620 km;
                                • "Solnechnogorskaya" pumping station (Moscow Oblast), ~ 560 km;
                                  • Volgograd Refinery, Volgograd (Volgograd Oblast), ~ 480 km;
                                    • regional oil depots and terminals: from Unecha to Armavir, ~ 50–500 km;
                                      • Saratov Refinery and LVDS "Lazarevo" (Saratov and Kirov Oblast), ~ 630 km / 1050 km.

                                        Military-Industrial Complex and Chemical Industry

                                        "In one month, the Defense Forces hit 4 facilities of the Russian military-industrial complex and chemical industry," the MoD reported and listed:

                                        • "VNIIR–Progress" plant, Cheboksary (Republic of Chuvashia), ~ 1150 km;
                                          • "Angstrem" enterprise, Zelenograd (Moscow Oblast), ~ 520 km;
                                            • "Metafrax Chemicals" plant, Gubakha (Perm Krai), ~ 1700 km;
                                              • Bryansk Chemical Plant, Seltso (Bryansk Oblast), ~ 120 km.

                                                Naval Forces and Fleet Facilities

                                                "In total, 15 objects were hit, including warships, boats, auxiliary vessels, and elements of port infrastructure," the report says, listing:

                                                • warships and infrastructure of the port of Primorsk, (Leningrad Oblast), ~ 1050 km;
                                                  • warships at the "Kaspiysk" base point, (Republic of Dagestan), ~ 1050 km;
                                                    • ship composition at the Novorossiysk naval base, (Krasnodar Krai), ~ 420 km;
                                                      • tankers of the Russian "shadow fleet", Black Sea and Sea of Azov waters, ~ 150–420 km.

                                                        Military Aviation, Air Defense, and Electronic Warfare

                                                        "In total, 10 objects were hit, including aircraft, a helicopter, a missile system, and specialized reconnaissance systems," the Ministry of Defense noted and detailed by point:

                                                        • "Yeysk" military airfield, city of Yeysk (Krasnodar Krai), ~ 150 km;
                                                          • 16th FSB Center, Temryuk (Krasnodar Krai), ~ up to 290 km;
                                                            • reconnaissance automation complexes of the Russian Air Force, cities of Voronezh, Taganrog, and temporarily occupied Sevastopol (Voronezh Oblast, Rostov Oblast, Crimea), ~ 150–250 km;
                                                              • aviation equipment and "Iskander-M" SRBM, Taganrog area (Rostov Oblast), ~ 150 km.

                                                                According to the Ministry of Defense, in April, Ukrainian deep strikes hit 14 refineries and terminals, 2 plants, as well as Russian vessels and aviation.
