The Verkhovna Rada has announced a 30-minute break due to MPs' demands to put to a vote a bill to ban the UOC-MP. MPs with placards block the rostrum, demanding consideration of the bill.

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, announced a 30-minute break in the parliamentary session. The MPs demand to put to vote a bill that would ban religious organizations associated with the aggressor country and have begun to block the rostrum of the Parliament. This was reported by UNN with reference to MPs Oleksiy Honcharenko and Yaroslav Zhelezniak.

Details

"The Rada adjourned for 30 minutes at the request of two factions. A meeting on the draft law on the Moscow church is underway," Honcharenko said.

MP Zheleznyak added that the Rada meeting is not likely to continue today.

"It looks like that's it for today. Until August at the earliest," Zheleznyak wrote.

After that, deputies with posters against the Moscow church began blocking the rostrum and demanding consideration of a bill to ban the UOC-MP.

"It's time to stop Moscow's largest intelligence network. The Russian Orthodox Church supports the war and the murder of Ukraine. The Moscow church kills," the posters read.

Earlier today, Honcharenko reported that the Servant of the People faction, along with a member of the former OPFL, voted against putting the issue of banning the Moscow church on the agenda at the Conciliation Council.

The MP also said that there is information that all Rada meetings will be canceled by the end of July. However, it is still unknown.

Addendum

This is not the first time that MPs have demanded that the draft law banning the UOC-MP be put to a vote . At a regular meeting of the Rada in May, Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk adjourned the parliamentary session. The reason for this was that two parliamentary factions demanded that a bill banning religious organizations associated with the aggressor country be put to a vote.

Recall

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine registered the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Activities of Religious Organizations in Ukraine" (No. 8371) in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in January 2013.

It was reported that the bill is aimed at ensuring spiritual independence, preventing a split in society on religious grounds, promoting the consolidation of Ukrainian society and protecting national interests.

Draft law provided for amendments to the laws "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations" and "On State Registration of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs and Public Organizations", which would make it impossible for religious organizations to operate in Ukraine, whose governing center (management) is located outside Ukraine in a state that carries out armed aggression against Ukraine.
