No blackouts are expected, there were power outages in Chernihiv region due to night attack by Russian drones - Ukrenergo

At night, Russian UAVs attacked power facilities in Chernihiv region, no blackouts are expected today, and electricity should be consumed sparingly throughout the day, Ukrenergo reported on Tuesday, UNN reports.

Consequences of Russian attacks on energy sector

"At night, Russian UAVs attacked power facilities in Chernihiv region," Ukrenergo said.

It is stated that due to the night attack of Russian UAVs on power facilities in the northern region, "industrial and domestic consumers in certain districts of Chernihiv region were cut off from electricity." "As of this morning, all consumers have been supplied with power. Emergency repair works are underway," the company said.

Consumption

Consumption on Monday, August 12, slightly decreased. Compared to the previous business day, Friday, August 9, the maximum electricity consumption was 2.6% lower. 

Today, on August 13, as of 9:30 a.m., consumption is at the same level as at the same time last day.  

"The application of restrictive measures is not expected today. Possible changes will be announced later," the statement said.

Ukrainians were urged to use electricity sparingly throughout the day whenever possible during the heat wave. 

Emergency assistance

Yesterday, on August 12, at the request of NPC Ukrenergo, Ukraine received emergency assistance from the Slovak power system.

Power outages

Due to the hostilities and other reasons, 491 settlements are without electricity supply in full or partially. Due to hostilities: there are power outages in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Kherson regions. For technical reasons, consumers in Dnipropetrovska oblast had power outages.

Situation at ZNPP

According to the Energy Ministry, "experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant have gained access to the plant's cooling tower to examine the consequences of the fire that the occupiers started the day before.

"Based on the data obtained, the experts did not make final conclusions about the circumstances of the fire. The IAEA team conducted radiation monitoring in the area of the cooling towers and reactors and confirmed that there were no signs of elevated radiation levels," the Energy Ministry said in a statement.
