Head of Military Medical Commission detained in Zakarpattia, nearly UAH 11 million in cash seized

In Zakarpattia, the head of the military medical commission was detained on suspicion of receiving bribes. During a search of his home, cash in various currencies equivalent to about UAH 11 million was seized, UNN reports with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office.

In Zakarpattia, the head of the military medical commission is suspected of organizing the receipt of undue benefits for issuing fictitious medical certificates. During a search of his home, cash in various currencies equivalent to about UAH 11 million was seized. The origin of these funds is being checked and will receive a separate legal assessment.
According to the investigation, the 60-year-old official demanded $6,000 from a conscript for assistance in passing the military medical commission and obtaining a conclusion on limited fitness for service. This included, in particular, the use of existing medical documents without proper examinations and formal confirmation of diagnoses.
Law enforcement officers documented the transfer of part of the funds. After the conclusion was drawn up and the documents were sent to the TCC, the official was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During the search on April 20, 2026, the following were seized:
• over 240 thousand US dollars;
• more than 3 thousand euros;
• almost 1.3 million forints;
• over 260 thousand UAH.
As reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, among the seized items were marked banknotes transferred as an advance payment as part of the control over the commission of the crime. A petition for the arrest of property is being prepared.
The official's actions were classified under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was notified of the suspicion. Prosecutors initiated the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention, and the issue of suspension from office is also being resolved.
