77 combat engagements recorded at the front, Pokrovsk sector remains the hottest – General Staff

Since the beginning of the day on May 31, Russian troops have attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 77 times. The occupiers showed the greatest activity in the Pokrovsk direction, where 26 assaults were recorded. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to UNN.

"Operational information as of 16:00 on 05.31.2026 regarding the repelling of the Russian invasion. Since the beginning of this day, the occupation forces have stormed the positions of our defenders 77 times; Russian artillery continues to mercilessly strike the Ukrainian border areas," the report says.

According to the General Staff, the settlements of Sopych, Bunyakyne, Volfyne, Iskryskivshchyna, Yastrubshchyna, Bachivsk, and Malushyne in the Sumy region came under enemy strikes.

In the Chernihiv region, the village of Klyusy was subjected to shelling.

In the Pivnichno-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, five combat engagements took place, and one battle is ongoing. There, Russian troops shelled Ukrainian positions and settlements 45 times, using multiple launch rocket systems twice.

Fighting also continued in the Pivdenno-Slobozhanskyi, Kupiansk, Lyman, and Sloviansk directions.

In the Kramatorsk and Oleksandrivka directions, no offensive actions by the enemy were recorded.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian units carried out ten attacks, attempting to break through the Ukrainian defense near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyniv Yar, Mykolaivka, Pleshchiivka, and Stepanivka.

The intensity of fighting remains highest in the Pokrovsk direction. There, the enemy tried 26 times to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from their occupied lines in the areas of Vilne, Dorozhnye, Bilytske, Rodynske, Oleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Novooleksandrivka, Serhiivka, Kotlyne, and Udachne.

In the Hulyaypole direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled nine enemy attacks in the areas of Zaliznychne, Vozdvyzhivka, Olenokostiantynivka, Hulyaypilske, and Charivne. One more battle is ongoing.

In the Orikhiv direction, the occupiers unsuccessfully tried nine times to break through the Ukrainian defense near Shcherbaky, Bilohirya, Nesteryanka, and Stepnohirsk.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian troops made one unsuccessful attempt to advance in the area of the Antonivskyi Bridge.

In the remaining sectors of the front, there are no significant changes in the operational situation; no attempts at enemy advancement have been recorded.
