This week, the US President called the 2026 FIFA World Cup "the most successful sporting event, perhaps even in world history," ahead of its final weekend.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, whose country co-hosted the tournament alongside the US and Canada, said she would also attend the final at Trump's invitation.
Sheinbaum was not present at the World Cup opening match in Mexico City, when her national team beat South Africa 2-0. Instead, she gave her ticket to a young indigenous woman.
King Felipe VI of Spain is also expected to attend. Argentine President Javier Milei said he would not attend due to superstition and would watch the match at home.
