Ukraine is preparing a decision to stabilize settlements in the electricity market: what will change for district heating companies and water utilities

The Cabinet of Ministers is preparing a decision to stabilize settlements in the electricity market. Relevant instructions have been given to the specialized agencies, reported Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, according to UNN

The government is preparing systemic solutions to stabilize settlements in the electricity market. The Cabinet of Ministers has instructed the relevant ministries, NEURC, "Ukrenergo," and "Energoatom" to prepare the appropriate mechanisms

- Svyrydenko wrote.

She noted that the first step will involve launching a special mechanism for supplying electricity to district heating companies, water utilities, and state-owned mines, which will stabilize settlements and stop the accumulation of debt.

The mechanism for distributing funds for district heating companies is also being changed. A portion of the payments must be automatically directed toward paying for electricity. Separately, the Ministry of Defense must propose a solution for debt repayment and current settlements for military units, especially in combat zones

- Svyrydenko added.

The government also instructed the Ministry of Energy, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy, with the participation of NEURC and NPC "Ukrenergo," to work with international financial organizations on possible ways to attract resources to repay debts in the balancing electricity market.

Resolving the debt issue is critically important for the stable passage of the upcoming winter

- noted the Deputy Prime Minister.
