- Koretskyi reported.

According to him, despite a massive fire, the Ukrainian naval forces managed to rescue 8 crew members. Two of them are wounded and have been hospitalized in Odesa. As of this moment, the bodies of 5 crew members have been found. The fate of 5 sailors is currently unknown. Due to the threat of a repeated attack, rescuers were forced to withdraw to a safe zone.  There is a massive fire on the vessel, and extinguishing efforts are ongoing. Ukraine is doing everything possible to find and rescue the remaining foreign citizens who are crew members.

I instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately inform the states whose citizens were affected by the Russian attack, as well as our international partners. Together with the military command, we are preparing decisions that will enhance the safety of navigation and help protect civilian vessels and seafarers from criminal Russian attacks

- Koretskyi added.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Russia is committing war crimes and undermining Black Sea security by attacking civilian merchant vessels. This is an attack on the freedom of navigation and the principles of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

I thank all our partners who do not remain silent about Russian aggression and put pressure on the aggressor in exactly the way needed
