The "Komarnytskyi tapes" case: Kyiv City Council failed to vote on the dismissal of Secretary Bondarenko, but he resigned himself

The Kyiv City Council failed to dismiss the Deputy Mayor - Secretary of the Kyiv City Council, Volodymyr Bondarenko, who is a witness in the case of land corruption in Kyiv, by secret ballot. However, he himself submitted a letter of resignation, which was supported by the deputies, reports UNN.

Details

During the plenary session of the Kyiv City Council, deputies held a secret ballot. As a result, the decision on early termination of the powers of the Secretary of the Kyiv City Council, Bondarenko, was not adopted.

Thus, according to the results of the count, out of 96 deputies  – 34 supported the proposal to terminate Bondarenko's powers early, 23 voted against and 38 deputies abstained. Accordingly, the decision was not adopted.  

However, the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced that Bondarenko had submitted a personal application for early termination of his powers as Deputy Mayor - Secretary of the Kyiv City Council without terminating the powers of a deputy of the Kyiv City Council.

As a result, 81 deputies voted "for".

On April 3, during a session of the Kyiv City Council, deputies blocked the podium and staged a scuffle in the presidium demanding that the issue of early termination of the powers of the Deputy Mayor, Secretary of the Kyiv City Council, Volodymyr Bondarenko, who is a witness in the case of land corruption in Kyiv, be put to a vote.

Context

On February 6, NABU and SAP conducted a large-scale operation called "Clean City", aimed at exposing a criminal organization operating in the Kyiv City Council and involved in land corruption.

NABU exposed a criminal organization in the Kyiv City Council, which illegally withdrew land through fictitious structures. 7 people were detained, including high-ranking officials and deputies, and the theft of plots worth UAH 83.7 million was prevented. NABU also declared former Kyiv City Council deputy Denys Komarnytskyi wanted in the case.

On February 7, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court sent Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Petro Olenych to custody for two months, and determined a bail of 15 million hryvnias as an alternative. Later, a bail was posted for the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Petro Olenych, who is a suspect in the case of the capital's land.

Details about the case emerged from the tapes published by investigative journalists, after which it began to be called accordingly.
