The head of the rear services of a training regiment was sentenced to 10 years in prison for stealing food supplies from a military unit. He was also stripped of his military rank of "major." This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, UNN reports.

According to the SBU, the official was detained in May 2025. The investigation documented 59 episodes of theft of products from the food warehouses of a secure facility totaling nearly UAH 500,000.
Law enforcement officers established that the head of rear services covertly loaded food into his own car and transported it outside the military unit. He involved the head of the canteen in the scheme, who was notified of suspicion. She is currently awaiting a court verdict.
According to the SBU, the official supplied part of the stolen products to local stores and cafes for further sale, and distributed the proceeds between himself and the owners of the retail establishments. He kept the other part of the goods for himself or sold them to acquaintances.
During searches at the convict's place of residence, law enforcement officers seized funds obtained through criminal means, as well as wholesale batches of food products.
The court found the man guilty under Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - theft, misappropriation, or extortion of military property by a serviceman, committed under martial law. In addition to 10 years in prison, he was stripped of his military rank of "major."
The investigation was conducted by SBU officers together with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Desnianskyi Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Central Region.
