In Russia, Yana Lantratova, a suspect in the case of kidnapping children from Kherson, has become the new ombudsperson. This was reported by UNN with reference to Russian "media."

Details

Lantratova replaced Tatyana Moskalkova, who had served as the Russian ombudsman since 2016. Both Lantratova and Moskalkova are under sanctions from several countries worldwide for supporting the deportation of Ukrainian children.

Additional Information

37-year-old Yana Lantratova was previously a member of the "Young Guard of United Russia," and in 2021, she was elected as a deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the VIII convocation. In 2015-2019, she served as the executive secretary of the Human Rights Council of the Russian Federation.

In 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine notified Lantratova of suspicion regarding her involvement in the forced deportation of children from Kherson.
