Russia plans to restrict international calls for citizens while officials keep assets abroad - intelligence

The Russian authorities plan to block foreign calls for citizens and pensioners. At the same time, deputies were allowed to continue owning real estate in other countries.

Russia plans to tighten restrictions on citizens, particularly regarding international calls, while the initiative to limit officials' foreign assets has been effectively rejected. This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service, writes UNN.
In Russia, there is a noticeable imbalance between restrictions for ordinary Russians and approaches to controlling government officials.
It is noted that the government commission on legislative activity gave a negative conclusion on the initiative to prohibit deputies and civil servants from owning real estate abroad. Despite the fact that the authors of the bill emphasized the risks of external influence through foreign assets, the document was deemed to "require significant revision." Thus, restrictions for officials in this area effectively remain absent.
At the same time, for ordinary Russians, it is planned to prohibit even incoming international calls from a number of "unfriendly countries" without the subscriber's prior consent, as well as mandatory labeling of such calls. Separate initiatives also provide for automatic blocking of international calls for older people.
Also, "Roskomnadzor" suggested that Russians abroad specify recommended Russian proxy servers in their settings and thus independently slow down the messenger's operation.
In addition, current labor legislation effectively makes it impossible to officially register remote work outside the country. The Labor Code of Russia requires specifying the place of work, and its norms apply only on the territory of the Russian Federation itself.
