Infant's body found in a wardrobe in Izmail – prosecutor's office announces criminal proceedings

In Izmail, the body of an infant was discovered in a bag inside the apartment of a deceased 33-year-old woman. Law enforcement officers are investigating the case, currently marked as an accident.

In Izmail, Odesa region, law enforcement officers discovered a bag containing the body of a newborn boy during a search of a 33-year-old woman's apartment. The day before, the woman had been hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the city hospital, where she died. The spokesperson for the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, Inna Verba, reported that the woman was not registered with medical institutions as being pregnant.
The mother died in the hospital. The woman was not registered with healthcare institutions as pregnant. According to preliminary information, the child was stillborn. Currently, the bodies of the mother and the child have been sent for forensic examination. Regarding the death of the child, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 2, Clause 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, marked as an "accident,"
The incident was also reported by People's Deputy of Ukraine Pavlo Sushko. According to him, the woman was taken to the hospital, where she died due to alcohol abuse.
