A federal court in the US dismissed Musk's lawsuit regarding the allegedly illegal transformation of OpenAI from a non-profit organization into a for-profit company. The jury concluded that the billionaire waited too long to file the lawsuit.
The court's decision effectively clears the way for OpenAI toward a potential initial public offering. According to Reuters, the lawsuit could have cost the company about $150 billion and jeopardized its leadership.
During the trial, Altman was repeatedly called a liar
Despite the victory, Reuters notes that during the hearings, former colleagues and partners of OpenAI repeatedly questioned Altman's integrity.
Musk's lawyer Stephen Holley stated in court: "In this case, Sam Altman's credibility is directly at issue. If you don't believe him, they can't win."
During cross-examination, Musk's lawyers cited testimony from eight individuals, including Musk himself, who claimed that Altman allegedly misled others.
The OpenAI head himself responded: "I consider myself an honest and reliable businessman."
