In the village of Sukhovolya, a 68-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, found to be intoxicated upon examination, hit a 38-year-old serviceman who died at the scene. The tragedy was witnessed by the victim's 17-year-old son.
A fatal traffic accident occurred in the Lviv region, in which an active serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine died; the circumstances are being established, the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported on Tuesday, writes UNN.

According to the investigation, today, August 4, at about 1:00 p.m., in the village of Sukhovolia, Zolochiv district, a 68-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter lost control on a curved section of the road. Driving onto the right shoulder, he struck a 38-year-old local resident.
The man died at the scene from his injuries. The witness to the tragedy was the victim's 17-year-old son, who immediately reported the accident to law enforcement. The deceased was an active serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was on medical leave at the time of the accident
"According to the results of the examination for intoxication, the alcohol content in the driver's body was almost three times higher than the permissible limit," - stated in the prosecutor's office.
Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated.
Currently, the issue of notifying the driver of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is being decided.
