Almost UAH 12 million for "fake" combat payments - NGU unit officers notified of suspicion

Former leadership of the military unit is suspected of making unjustified payments to 164 soldiers. Officials face up to 10 years in prison for negligence.

Law enforcement officers have notified a former commander and his first deputy of one of the National Guard of Ukraine's military units of suspicion in a case concerning illegal payments to military personnel. Both officers hold the rank of "colonel." This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to UNN.

According to the investigation, in March 2025, officials allowed the accrual and payment of additional remuneration to 164 servicemen for December 2024 - February 2025, allegedly for performing combat and special tasks.
In particular, it concerned the maintenance of platoon strongholds in the Kryvyi Rih district of Dnipropetrovsk region outside the combat zone. At the same time, the actual performance of these tasks during the specified period was not documented.
On average, each serviceman received from 85 to 90 thousand hryvnias over three months. The total damage to the state exceeded UAH 11.9 million, which was confirmed by a forensic economic examination.

Currently, the overpaid funds have been returned.
The actions of the suspects are classified under Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - negligent attitude to military service, which led to grave consequences under martial law. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment from 5 to 10 years.
