The counterintelligence of the SBU detained an agent in Donetsk region who simultaneously worked for the FSB and the Russian GRU. The detainee turned out to be an engineer of the local heating network recruited by the Russians, who adjusted missile, bomb, and drone attacks of the Rashists on Sloviansk. This is reported by UNN with reference to the Security Service of Ukraine.
Details
According to the investigation, the man was recruited in a Telegram channel administered by an employee of the Smolensk Military Hospital. The woman was in contact with Russian special services, who instructed her to search for potential "candidates" for the intelligence network.
Under the pretext of work trips, the agent-utility worker traveled around the frontline city and its outskirts to identify locations of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and transmit coordinates to the enemy for further shelling.
He stored the information in three smartphones with the intention of passing it to the enemy. After his detention, the phones were seized from him.
The agent has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
