60-year-old man suspected of raping a teenager in Ternopil

A man is suspected of raping a minor in Ternopil, the Prosecutor General's Office announced on Wednesday, writes UNN.

According to the investigation, the man is involved in the rape of a 14-year-old teenager and the involvement of children in the creation of pornographic content.

According to the prosecutor's office, in early January 2025, a 60-year-old man met the minor through Instagram. "During the correspondence, he showed affection, offered financial assistance, and gradually established a trusting relationship with the child," the PGO noted.

"Later, he offered the teenager to regularly come to the apartment belonging to his mother. Having gained trust and having significant influence over the child, during one of these meetings, he raped the boy," the prosecutor's office reported.

At the same time, according to the investigation, the suspect contacted minors from various cities, including Vinnytsia and Bila Tserkva, via Telegram. "For a monetary reward, the children sent him pornographic content," the prosecutor's office indicated.

During the search, the suspect's mobile phone, smartwatch, and computer equipment were seized. "More than 80 files belonging to child pornography were found on his laptop," the report says.

The man, as stated, has been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 152, Part 2 of Article 156-1, Part 1 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He is accused of raping a minor, offering to meet persons under the age of 16 for the purpose of committing acts of a sexual nature, as well as intentionally obtaining access to child pornography and storing it without the purpose of distribution.

The suspect is in custody.
