Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko explained the algorithm for revoking the deferment (un-deferring) of medical workers to reinforce the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, the procedure involves an initial request from the military, followed by quota distribution, and subsequently the voluntary involvement of specialists. He stated this during a session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, reports UNN.

During his speech, Viktor Liashko explained that following a decision by the National Security and Defense Council, a 100% deferment (reservation) was introduced for medical workers. However, if specific specialists are needed within the ranks of the Medical Forces, the Ministry of Health can revoke the deferment for some medics and enlist them for service in the AFU.
"Regarding the un-deferring of medical workers—it is true. There is an established algorithm adopted after the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, which provided for 100% deferment for medical workers, specifically doctors working in state and municipal healthcare facilities. Subsequently, the Ministry of Defense and the Commander of the Medical Forces, through the Ministry of Defense, approach the Ministry of Health with a specific request for medical specialties and profiles necessary to reinforce the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We apply a quota principle and pass this to the regional administrations. Regional administrations work with specific facilities; a certain identification of people who are ready in the first place occurs. Those ready to voluntarily join the ranks of the Armed Forces, specifically the Medical Forces of the AFU. After this, the deferment is revoked and a contract is signed, which, following the vote in this Parliament, a medical worker can sign for one year. They serve one year in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and return to their primary place of work,"

The Ministry of Health, commenting on the un-deferring of medical workers for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, noted that a person signs a contract for one year and is drafted exclusively to a medical position. Female medics may voluntarily provide consent to join the AFU.
