A scheme involving fictitious employment was exposed and stopped at the Main Military Clinical Hospital, which, as confirmed, embezzled about UAH 2.6 million, reported Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, publishing recorded conversations, writes UNN.

"The Main Military Clinical Hospital" is a place where doctors work at their limits every day. It is the medical rear of the country, where critical patient conditions and doctor overload are common. That is why the scheme exposed and stopped by the Office of the Prosecutor General together with the SBU is particularly cynical. The investigation established: the head of the hospital's security and defense organization department organized fictitious employment of persons who were only formally listed as serving

- Kravchenko reported on social networks.

"They did not perform any duties, but consistently received salaries," he noted.

According to the Prosecutor General, "cash from their bank cards, according to the investigation, was systematically withdrawn by the scheme organizer."

"This worked through forged time sheets, official documents, and a complete imitation of 'presence.' Essentially 'dead souls' in medical and military positions, while real specialists work with overload and a shortage of people," Kravchenko pointed out.

According to him, "the recorded conversations only emphasize the level of cynicism."

"One of the defendants dreamed of resigning from military service with forged documents, saying, 'they are waiting for me at a foreign IT company.' Another woman was hired at the main military hospital exclusively for maternity leave and experience, although in real life she worked as a manicurist and calmly discussed this in a conversation with her... fortune teller," the Prosecutor General said.

Kravchenko emphasized: "It is fundamentally important to understand: in wartime, this is not 'petty corruption.' Fictitious removal of personnel undermines the capacity of the military medical system, demotivates those who actually save lives, distorts personnel accounting, and undermines trust in defense institutions."

"The confirmed amount of embezzled funds is about 2.6 million hryvnias. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, within which the final amount of damages will be established," the Prosecutor General noted.

For embezzlement of budget funds on a particularly large scale using official position, according to the Prosecutor General, the official faces up to 12 years in prison. His two accomplices are charged with evading military service through deception in wartime conditions.

"We continue to work," Kravchenko emphasized.
