The President's Office reported that as soon as the Head of State signs the document and it comes into force, the military ombudsman will have the authority to protect the rights of servicemen. In particular, he will be able to receive and process complaints, conduct inspections in military units and military administration bodies, and interact with other bodies of the security and defense sector.
The military ombudsman will also analyze the reasons for violations of soldiers' rights, prepare proposals for eliminating violations and preventing them in the future, and provide recommendations to the military leadership on how to change the situation with the rights of servicemen.
The President's Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of Servicemen and Their Families, Olha Reshetylova, stated that the higher military command will have 10 days to respond to the actions of the Office of the Military Ombudsman in case of a complaint from servicemen, otherwise it will be brought to administrative responsibility.
