According to Bessent, this warning is part of a policy of economic pressure on Iran amid the war involving the U.S. and Israel.
"Doing business with Iranian airlines that are subject to sanctions risks falling under U.S. sanctions,"
He also urged foreign governments to prevent their companies from providing services to such carriers.
"Foreign governments must take all necessary measures to ensure that companies in their jurisdiction do not provide services to these aircraft, including the supply of aviation fuel, catering, landing fees, or technical maintenance,"
Bessent added that the Treasury Department would "not hesitate" to take measures against third parties cooperating with Iranian entities, including the possible imposition of secondary sanctions on foreign financial institutions.
The statement came amid reports from Iranian media about the resumption of international flights from Tehran for the first time since the start of the war.
