According to the Kuwaiti side, the international airport terminal was damaged as a result of the strike. At the same time, the statement did not specify which diplomatic missions also sustained damage.
Iranian state media, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, claim that Tehran did not strike the airport. They stated that the destruction allegedly occurred due to an "error by American Patriot systems, which failed to intercept the Iranian missiles."
Kuwait comes under fire for the first time since the truce
The U.S. military rejected these accusations. U.S. Central Command stated that the incident was a "deliberate, calculated, and unjustified attack" by Iran.
The attack marked another escalation of tensions in the region following the ceasefire announced on April 8. According to Reuters, Iran carried out missile and drone strikes against Kuwait, a close U.S. ally, as well as other Gulf nations.
