The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a minor who, on behalf of Russia, was preparing a double terrorist attack in Poltava region, the SBU reported on Tuesday, writes UNN.

"The counterintelligence of the Security Service prevented new terrorist attacks in Poltava region. Thanks to pre-emptive actions, a minor Russian agent who was preparing two explosions in Kremenchuk at once was detained. According to the case materials, the perpetrator planted two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) with remote activation near the local police station," the SBU reported.
Initially, according to the SBU, "the Rashists were supposed to detonate one of the explosives on the night of April 17 this year, and after emergency services arrived at the scene, they planned to activate the second bomb, planted nearby."
Counterintelligence officers, as stated, uncovered the enemy's plan and neutralized the explosives at the site of the planned terrorist attack.
"The SBU detained the agent 'red-handed' after planting the IEDs, thereby preventing human casualties. As the investigation established, the enemy's task was carried out by a 17-year-old student of a local lyceum, who came to the attention of the occupiers when he was looking for 'easy money' in Telegram channels," the SBU noted.
After recruitment, according to the SBU, the suspect, following the enemy's instructions, purchased components for two explosives and assembled them himself in a rented garage. He received money for all this from his curator from Russia, the special service reported. "Having agreed with him on the location for the terrorist attack, the agent went there at night to plant the explosive devices without witnesses," the SBU added.
During searches, the detainee had remnants of IED components and communication devices with evidence of contacts with a Russian special services officer seized.
The agent was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 15, Part 1 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempted terrorist act). The perpetrator is in custody. He faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
