Three traitors who voluntarily joined the Russian army after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and fought against Ukrainian troops near Avdiivka and Chasovyi Yar were detained and served with a notice of suspicion of treason and aiding the aggressor state.

The SBU documented the crimes of three more traitors who fought against the Defense Forces in eastern Ukraine. After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the defendants were in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and voluntarily joined the Russian army. It is noted that among them is a resident of Makiivka, who in September 2022 voluntarily "mobilized" to the 100th separate motorized rifle brigade of the Russian armed forces. There he was enlisted as a grenade launcher. The defendant was engaged in the arrangement of racist firing positions near the village of Nevelske, Pokrovsk district.

At the end of February 2022, another traitor arrived at the occupation "military registration and enlistment office" in the temporarily occupied Alchevsk, Luhansk region, and "enlisted" in the Russian army. Then he was enlisted in the 4th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Federation and sent to the front line. At first, he was sent to the area of Kreminna, and later to Bakhmut. From there, he was sent to the village of Ivanivske to storm the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Chasovyi Yar.

Another suspect joined the ranks of the aggressor in June 2022 in the temporarily occupied town of Rovenky, Luhansk region. As a member of the occupation group Storm-Z, he was equipping racist fortifications near Soledar.

Based on the materials of the military counterintelligence and SBU investigators, the offenders were served a notice of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Art. 111 (high treason);
  • ч. 7 of Art. 111-1 (providing illegal armed or paramilitary groups of the aggressor state with assistance in conducting hostilities against the AFU).

The offenders face life imprisonment.
