European Commissioner Andrius Kubilius stated that Ukraine's accession to NATO is impossible at this time. He proposes creating a European Defense Union to provide security guarantees.

European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius stated that under current conditions, Ukraine's accession to NATO remains unattainable, which is why Europe must develop an alternative security mechanism – the European Defense Union. He said this during the conference "The Road to the Ukraine Recovery Conference: Security and Defense Dimension" in Rzeszów, UNN reports.
According to Kubilius, the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine cannot be postponed indefinitely.

The European Commissioner noted that such a format should unite European countries in the field of defense, joint arms production, and long-term support for Ukraine.
Ukraine is already a part of Europe's security de facto. Now this needs to be formalized politically and institutionally
As a reminder
European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius proposed concluding a new intergovernmental European treaty to create a defense union and prepare the EU for independent defense amid the shift of US strategic focus to the Indo-Pacific region.
