The Ukrainian national team lost to Azerbaijan in the final of the 2026 European Minifootball Championship. Thus, Azerbaijan became a two-time European champion, while Ukraine won silver medals, UNN reports.

In the 7th minute, Mirmehdi Rzayev put the Azerbaijani national team ahead with a shot into the far corner following a set piece — 1:0.

In the closing stages of the match, as Ukraine pushed forward and brought on an outfield player instead of the goalkeeper, Isa Atayev sent the ball into an empty net — 2:0. 

Thus, the Azerbaijan national minifootball team became a two-time European champion. The team previously won this title in 2022.

Ukraine, meanwhile, won its first medals in history.
