Ukraine completes repairs on major roads, setting a new record

In Ukraine, repairs on major highways have been completed following a difficult winter, restoring a record 14 million square meters of roads, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported on social media on Wednesday, UNN writes.

The government has ensured an unprecedented volume of planned repair work on the country's main highways since the beginning of the invasion. Priority work to eliminate potholes and other deformations formed after the winter has been completed on highways of national and international significance. 14 million m² of road surface has been repaired,

- Svyrydenko wrote.

According to her, "this is the highest figure for the entire period of the full-scale invasion."

"Restoring the proper condition of roads is primarily a matter of people's safety, the uninterrupted movement of goods for the Defense Forces, and the stable functioning of the economy," the Prime Minister emphasized.

She pointed out that "going forward, efforts to restore road infrastructure will be focused on frontline regions, particularly on highways that are of critical importance for military logistics and evacuation."

As reported by the Ministry of Development, among the routes where the largest volumes of work were performed are:

  • M-06 Kyiv – Chop;
    • M-05 Kyiv – Odesa;
      • M-14 Odesa – Melitopol – Novoazovsk;
        • M-29 Kharkiv – Krasnohrad – Pereshchepyne – Dnipro;
          • M-21 Vystupovychi – Zhytomyr – Mohyliv-Podilskyi.

            The Ministry of Development also indicated that the Northern Bypass of Rivne—a new transport artery with a length of 14.5 km—was opened in the Rivne region.

            "This is one of the largest road projects of recent years, which will allow transit transport to be diverted outside the city, reduce drivers' travel time, and improve connections between the regions of Ukraine and EU countries," the report says.

            After a forced pause, work on the facility, as stated, "was resumed and successfully completed."
