According to sources, the UAE advocates for the creation of an international coalition that could ensure the opening of the strategic waterway, even by force.
Emirati diplomats have urged the US and military powers in Europe and Asia to form a coalition to open the strait by force
It is noted that the country is also promoting the idea of adopting a relevant UN Security Council resolution that could legitimize such actions. At the same time, even if it is blocked, the UAE does not rule out participation in a military operation.
The article emphasizes that the Emirates are considering various forms of participation – from demining the waters and escorting vessels to a more active military role. The possibility of establishing control over strategic islands, particularly Abu Musa, which is under Iranian control, is also being discussed.
According to analysts, such a step would be a significant change in UAE policy, which previously tried to avoid direct involvement in the conflict with Iran. However, after a series of attacks by Tehran, the country's position has become tougher.
At the same time, participation in hostilities carries serious risks. Iran has already intensified attacks on UAE territory, including with the use of missiles and drones, and has also threatened strikes on the infrastructure of countries that support military operations against it.
The Strait of Hormuz is critically important for global energy trade, and its blockade poses a threat to the global economy. That is why the countries of the region are increasingly discussing the possibility of unblocking it.
