The United States has imposed sanctions on nearly 400 companies and individuals from Russia, India, China and other countries, accusing them of providing products and services that contribute to Russia's military efforts.
The move by the Treasury Department and the State Department is aimed at punishing “third countries” accused of providing material assistance to the Kremlin or helping Russia evade thousands of sanctions imposed on Russia after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemi said that the United States and its allies “are unwavering in our resolve to reduce and degrade Russia's ability to equip its war machine and to stop those who seek to support their efforts by circumventing or evading our export sanctions and controls.
The new sanctions announced on Wednesday are the latest in a series of wide-ranging restrictions imposed on Russian companies and their suppliers from other countries following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The day before, it became known that the United States Treasury Department imposed sanctions against 275 people and companies from 14 countries, which, in particular, transfer advanced technologies to the Russian army. The sanctioned individuals include the following: deputy secretaries of the Russian Defense Ministry Anna Tsivilova, Pavel Fradkov, Alexander Fomin, Viktor Goremykin, and Andrey Bulyga; representatives of Transmashholding JSC, Rosatom JSC, Rosatom Infrastructure Solutions, Zvezda Research and Production Enterprise, Angstrom JSC, and others.
