David Arakhamia called attempts to politicize the terrorist attack in Kyiv groundless. The issue of changing the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is currently not being considered by the Verkhovna Rada.

As of now, the issue of changing the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, is not being considered by the Verkhovna Rada. This was announced by the head of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arakhamia, as reported by UNN.

According to the head of the "Servant of the People" faction, some people's deputies are trying to politicize the terrorist attack in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv.
Such attempts are absolutely groundless. The leadership of the patrol police resigned, the culprits were brought to justice, no one is covering for anyone, things are called by their proper names. The Ministry of Internal Affairs promptly reacted to the situation, drew conclusions, and launched the necessary internal procedures. As of now, the issue of changing the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is not being considered by the Verkhovna Rada.

A resolution on the resignation of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was registered in the Verkhovna Rada. The initiative appeared after a mass shooting in Kyiv.
Context
On April 18, in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital, a 58-year-old native of Moscow opened fire, killed five people, and then barricaded himself in a supermarket and held hostages. He used registered firearms. At the same time, a fire broke out in the apartment where the attacker was registered.
Subsequently, two more people died in the hospital.
The shooter was eliminated.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 3 of Article 258 (terrorist act that led to the death of people) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding the shooting of civilians and the hostage-taking in the capital.
Also, criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the improper performance of official duties by police officers during the terrorist attack in the capital on April 18, 2026. The legal qualification of the criminal offense is Part 3 of Article 367 (official negligence that caused grave consequences) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
All actions of law enforcement officers at the moment of critical threat to the lives of citizens, including the episode with leaving a minor child in danger and the untimely cessation of the attacker's actions, will receive a proper legal assessment, reported Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.
