Romania will not produce PAC-3 missiles for Patriot for Ukraine, but will support the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense

Romania does not plan to organize the production of PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems for Ukraine, as it is not among the countries that manufacture these missiles. This was stated by Romanian Defense Minister Radu Miruță, as reported by Defense Express, writes UNN.

According to the minister, Bucharest has not held any negotiations regarding the localization of PAC-3 missile production on its territory.

Earlier, Western media suggested that one possible option for supplying Ukraine with missiles for the Patriot could be their production in Romania. Such reports were later spread by Russian propaganda resources.

Romania supports aid to Ukraine with air defense systems

Despite the lack of plans for PAC-3 production, the head of the Romanian Ministry of Defense confirmed support for the activities of the "Coalition of the Willing," one of whose directions is the systematic provision of Ukraine with air defense systems, including missiles for Patriot complexes.

Defense Romania also recalled that over the past four years, plans to launch production of PAAC-4 (SkyCeptor) interceptor missiles, developed for the Israeli "David's Sling" system and capable of being integrated into Patriot systems, have not been implemented in Romania.

Defense Express notes that Romania's refusal to produce PAC-3 is not bad news for Ukraine, as it is more expedient to manufacture critically important interceptor missiles in countries that already have the necessary production capacities and proven technologies. At the same time, any assistance from Romania in strengthening Ukrainian air defense remains important for Ukraine.
