Romania scrambled two F-16 fighter jets due to a Russian attack on Ukraine near the Romanian border, the country's Ministry of National Defense reported on Tuesday, according to UNN.

"On the morning of Tuesday, May 19, Russian forces carried out a new series of drone attacks on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania, in Tulcea County," the Romanian defense ministry stated.

According to the Romanian Ministry of Defense, "ground radars tracked a group of drones that struck the port of Izmail, Ukraine." "No radar signals were detected in the national airspace. The air alert was terminated at 02:57," the Romanian defense ministry noted.
"The Ministry of National Defense informs allied structures in real-time about situations caused by the attacks, maintaining constant contact with them," the statement reads.

Overnight, the enemy again launched a massive attack on the south of the Odesa region with strike drones, reported the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.
"Most of the aerial targets were destroyed by our air defense forces. In the Izmail district, a UAV hit a warehouse building, damaging the roof and windows. A fire broke out, which was promptly extinguished by rescuers. Fortunately, there are no casualties," Kiper stated.
