The Peace Council is asking the UN to force Hamas to disarm in order to implement the truce. Currently, Israel controls about sixty percent of Gaza's territory.
The Peace Council, which monitors compliance with the ceasefire in Gaza, will appeal to the UN Security Council with a demand to force Hamas to disarm. This was reported by the Associated Press with reference to the organization's report, according to UNN.

The document is expected to be discussed on May 22 at a UN Security Council meeting dedicated to the situation in the Middle East. The report notes that the main obstacle to the full implementation of the ceasefire remains Hamas's refusal to "agree to a verified decommissioning" and to "allow for a genuine civilian transition in Gaza."
Hamas has already reacted to the document, calling it "false."
