According to Moldova's authorities, the deficit was caused by a heat wave that led to a significant increase in electricity consumption across the region. At the same time, electricity production is limited due to weather conditions.
Residents were urged to turn off lighting and unused electrical appliances between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM, postpone the use of energy-intensive household appliances, including washing machines and dryers, electric ovens, and, if possible, avoid using air conditioners and elevators.
Additionally, Moldovan citizens were advised to prepare for possible temporary power outages: charge mobile phones in advance and ensure the availability of alternative lighting sources.
